Capture All The Goodness In A Single Capsule

The Acai berry grows on the tops of a particular type of palm tree in the Brazilian jungle and for many thousands of years has been eaten by indigenous people not just because it tastes delicious but because it has always been recognised as having health giving properties particularly in energising.

Today the science exists to explain what those benefits are and the most remarkable property is the great amount of antioxidants there are along with a high level of vitamin C.

There are other vitamins as well as calcium, copper, zinc and magnesium and all this might explain why surfers on the beaches where the berry grows have often claimed that the fruit makes them feel more energised.

Unfortunately the berry cannot be exported in its fresh form for us to enjoy on this side of the Atlantic as it ripens and loses most of its usefulness within 24 hours of being picked. The picking itself is a laborious business as someone has to climb to the top of the tree and cut each bunch without it falling to the ground where it would break into a mush.

The commercial Acai business collects the berries and freezes them within 24 hours to be treated and turned into Acai capsules thatretain all the goodness for people around the world to enjoy.

A tree specialist in the South West of England recently looked at the possibility of growing this particular palm tree as the climate has shown it is already capable of supporting other types of Palm, as anyone who has been to The Scilly Islands or Torquay can attest.

Unfortunately it is a palm that requires far greater heat and humidity as well as a soil completely different to that found anywhere in England.

This is a shame because the only way you can appreciate the wonderful taste of a freshly picked Acai berry is to fly to Brazil. With a taste described as being a mixture of good red wine with a hint of chocolate it seems almost worth the flight.
