Can Probiotic Products Help Skin Complaints?

Recent research has suggested that regularly taking probiotic products as part of a healthy and balanced lifestyle can also assist with the treatment of skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, hives and rashes.

Your skin needs a lot of things to stay looking healthy and at its best.  We all know about the most common solutions such as drinking lots of water and using a good moisturiser but did you know that one of the keys to healthy and good looking skin starts in your digestive system?

Your gut is the place where all those essential vitamins are first absorbed, the vitamins A, B, C and D as well as the essential minerals such as zinc and copper.  If your body is struggling to absorb these important vitamins and minerals then this will be reflected in your skin.  One of the things which affects the body’s ability to take in these vitamins is the number of good bacteria within the gut.

So what can reduce the amount of good bacteria residing in your digestive system thereby impacting the healthiness of your skin?  One of the biggest causes is the overgrowth of the Candida bacteria.

There are a number of different reasons why candida bacteria can suddenly overtake the good bacteria within your digestive system and so it’s important to regularly rebalance the bacteria within.  You can do this by adjusting your diet, reducing the amount of refined foods you eat and ensuring your diet is well balanced and also by regularly taking probiotic products such as Fivelac

Probiotic products help to restore the levels of good bacteria within your digestive system and allow your gut to heal which will help to prevent candida from overtaking the growth of good bacteria and which will significantly improve, not just your skin’s healthiness but also your overall health.

Remember however that simply taking a probiotic product regularly may not fix your skin problem and it could be that you need to consider some lifestyle changes as well.  Reducing the amount of alcohol and caffeine you drink, as a simple example, can dramatically improve your skin’s healthiness.  If you find that your skin problem is becoming increasingly problematic you should also consider seeking help and advice from a medical professional.
