An Alternative Approach To A Healthy Gut

When we talk of a healthy gut we should perhaps use the correct English and talk about the human gastrointestinal tract.

In an adult there are approximately nine metres between the mouth and the anus and what goes on through that length is something remarkable that most of us just take for granted.

If we live to an old age the amount of food and drink that passes through our bodies is quite mind blowing. We all have different eating habits but by using the accurate farming production figures for lamb, beef and pigs and doing the arithmetic it seems one person will consume four beef cattle, fifteen pigs, twenty-one sheep and twelve hundred chickens!

How does our digestive system handle the variety of product that passes through? It copes as well for vegetarians, vegans and heavy meat eaters as well as many who over imbibe on alcohol.

In a lifetime we all suffer on occasion with stomach pain and intestinal blockage. This is often the case when we travel to countries where we encounter different or excessive bacteria that grow more prevalently in hotter climates.

All serious stomach bugs are a direct result of bacteria from faeces. Most of the time this occurs because of unwashed hands in the kitchen or insufficient cleaning of raw vegetables and fruit but it can also be caused by contaminated water in the guise of an ice-cube.

Problems in the intestine can be revealed in many different ways. Constipation and diarrhoea are the extremes and is an indication that all is not well. Constipation is probably the worst of the two as it means there is waste that is not properly moving in the intestines and where there is a hold up there will be a build-up of bad bacteria, or pathogens.

An alternative approach to balancing and curing problems in the intestines is not to reach for the harsh contents of a strong laxative but take instead a course of something like Fivelac.

This product along with many others to be found at The Finchley Clinic works like a mild laxative by introducing a boost of five gut friendly bacteria. Taken with one of the liquid oxygen products it is unlike a laxative from the chemist as it is not just clearing the blockage but also helping to create an environment where it should not happen again in the near future.

If you take this or some of the alternative supplements and watch what you eat then it can be taken all the time at no risk to your health.

Humans have a far greater choice of foods than any other animal on the planet and part of this is because much of it has been processed. Perhaps because of that fact we are more susceptible to intestinal problems than any other creature.

On the matter of food consumption perhaps the most startling and disturbing fact is that in the Western world we are all responsible for an average landfill of 8.5 tons of packaging each in our lifetime.
