Candida Symptoms and Control

One of the most common infections that millions of people suffer from across the globe is Candida Albicans.
Candida is known to be a yeast like organism, which exists naturally in small quantities in the skin, gastrointestinal tract and in the mouth.  The body's auto immune system offers a natural defence against infections through the production of friendly bacteria in the digestive tract.  It remains under check when the immune system is functioning at optimum levels and friendly bacteria are present in the digestive system. In certain conditions when the quantity of friendly bacteria decreases and the immune system is weak, yeast proliferation will occur in all likelihood. At such a stage Candida Albicans could transform from yeast to a fungal form and cause a host of health issues.

A few of the common Candida symptoms are:
  • Food allergies,
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Craving for sugar and carbohydrates
  • Oral or vaginal thrush
  • Bloating, indigestion, stomach cramps etc.
  • Pain in the joints
  • Sudden increase or decrease in weight
  • Rashes on the skin
  • Urinary infection
  • Bad breath
There are a number of products available online these days from retailers like the Finchley Clinic, which help to treat the problem effectively. Besides treatment some other lifestyle changes will also help to control the disease such as:

Change in diet: A change in your diet habits can help to alleviate Candida overgrowth symptoms to a major extent. This is possible by increasing the intake of natural fibre in the diet, while reducing the intake of foods rich in sugar and high in carbohydrate content. Instead of attempting a radical change in dietary habits it is recommended to adopt a healthy approach instead. The intake of sugar can be reduced to just a small snack or even a cookie or two a day. The more fibre such as fruit and green vegetables you add to your diet the better. For those with a severe Candida overgrowth it is best to totally eliminate sugar from their diet!

Exercise: One of the best things to do is exercise as it reduces stress. The lower the stress kevels the better the natural immune system will function. One does not need to exercise like a body builder, just a bit of jogging or brisk walking for about 40 minutes in a day, will do just fine.

Get adequate sleep: With adequate sleep being extremely important to your health, getting a minimum of seven hours of sleep will keep the metabolism working efficiently and help to lower stress. This will strengthen the immune system, which will help the body to fight Candida.

Quit any vices: For those who are habitual drinkers or smokers, or even have a substance abuse problem, it is time to quit. To beat a Candida infection successfully the body needs to be in good shape. When you reduce or quit these habits, it will automatically benefit your immune system and stress response, which helps to stave off the disease more effectively.
