An Occasional Colon Cleanse Is Beneficial

What is a colon cleanser and what is the theory behind it? Since Grecian times it was the belief that this practice was a form of auto detoxifying the intestinal tract.
The Greeks were of the opinion that waste left lying around too long would poison the body and make us ill.

Colon cleansing lost its popularity in the mid-20th century, but it is now back in favour again. The belief is still the same. If waste stays in the colon for too long it forms toxins which will compromise the immune system.

Why is this so? Impacted waste will prevent the proper working of digestion and the blood stream is unable to pick up enough nutrients from digested food. Furthermore, this waste produces toxins which bad or anaerobic bacteria love and they proliferate.

This causes all kinds problems. First of all you may feel under the weather most of the time. You may not have any energy and you may become constipated or suffer diarrhoea.

If the anaerobic organisms are allowed to run riot, you may suffer a yeast overgrowth. A manifestation of this is if you should have thrush in the mouth or candida affecting your intimate parts.  The latter is really uncomfortable and embarrassing, especially if you have a partner.

A cleanse can be performed in two ways. The first is to use a dietary supplement that is a colon cleanser.  The second way is to visit a practitioner who will do it for you. You need to understand, though that the latter involves having water introduced to your colon area.

The procedure works fine, but good as well as bad bacteria as well as minerals will be expelled from your body.  You need to make sure that you top these up afterwards by taking probiotics or oxygenating products.

It is said that toxins can cross over into the blood stream. A healthy body can deal with some of these as the liver will flush them out. However, if your system is overwhelmed by these, it may be difficult to stay healthy.
